Colorado Springs Specialty Dentures
Dentures have come a long way and are now more comfortable and natural-looking than ever before. At Hill Dentistry, we offer custom dentures to fit you beautifully. Our custom dentures are lightweight, comfortable, and customized just for you.
Types of Dentures
Our custom dentures are available in two types: Partial and full.
- Partial Dentures: These dentures are custom manufactured to replace lost teeth. If you have lost one or more teeth, the gap can lead to problems as the surrounding teeth shift out of place. A partial denture can help keep your smile bright and healthy, replacing lost teeth, and keep your natural teeth healthy and in place. A crown may be installed to help anchor the partial denture more securely. All dentures are customized for your unique condition.
- Full Dentures: If your teeth have been damaged beyond repair, you may need full dentures to replace your upper teeth, lower teeth, or both. Our advanced techniques include implant-anchored dentures, or “all on four.” The dentures are securely anchored to the implants, and function beautifully.

- Your custom dentures are lab-created, which may take a week or two.
- You will have temporary dentures while your specialty dentures are manufactured.
- Once delivered, we perform a custom fitting and make sure you are happy and comfortable with your new dentures.
The Transition Period: Getting Used to Your Dentures

Guidelines on How to Take Care of Your Custom Dentures
Custom dentures, such as implant-supported dentures or partial dentures, require specific care to ensure their longevity and functionality.
Here are some general guidelines on how to take care of custom dentures:
- Follow Oral Hygiene Practices: Just like natural teeth, specialty dentures require regular oral hygiene practices. This includes brushing your dentures with a soft-bristled toothbrush and non-abrasive denture cleaner or mild soap at least twice a day to remove plaque, food particles, and stains. Avoid using regular toothpaste, as it can be too abrasive and damage the denture surface. Rinse your dentures thoroughly after cleaning to remove all cleaning agents.
- Handle Dentures with Care: When handling your custom dentures, be sure to handle them over a soft towel or a basin of water to prevent them from accidentally dropping and breaking. Avoid using excessive force or bending the dentures, as they can become damaged or warped. Remove your dentures before going to bed, and store them in a denture container with clean water or denture soaking solution to prevent them from drying out or warping.
- Be Mindful of Food Choices: While specialty dentures are designed to withstand normal chewing forces, it's important to be mindful of your food choices. Avoid hard, sticky, or tough foods that can put excessive strain on your dentures and cause them to break or become damaged. Cut your food into smaller, manageable pieces, and try to evenly distribute the chewing forces on both sides of your mouth to prevent undue stress on one side.
- Regular Dental Check-ups: It's crucial to continue seeing your dentist for regular check-ups even with specialty dentures. Your dentist can assess the fit and function of your dentures, make any necessary adjustments, and identify and address any potential issues early on. Regular dental check-ups also allow your dentist to monitor the health of your oral tissues and provide recommendations for proper denture care.
- Avoid DIY Repairs: If your custom dentures become damaged or ill-fitting, avoid attempting to repair or adjust them yourself. DIY repairs can often result in further damage or poor fit, leading to discomfort or other issues. Always consult your dentist or denturist if you experience any problems with your specialty dentures, and let them handle any necessary repairs or adjustments.
By following these care guidelines and maintaining regular dental check-ups, you can help ensure the longevity and functionality of your custom dentures. Proper care and maintenance can help you enjoy the benefits of your custom dentures for many years to come.
