What Are Soft Tissue Grafts?
Gum tissue can change and shrink, and there are many reasons for this including, receding gums (from gingivitis or periodontal disease) and loss of one or more teeth (which causes tooth-less gum tissue to shrink). Replacing lost gum tissue can restore the natural contour of your smile.
We can augment or replace gum tissue by a variety of means, including soft tissue grafts, which are small pieces of tissue taken from other areas such as the palate, which is then surgically implanted in the affected area. During the procedure, Dr. Hill will stitch the grafting tissue onto the areas of the gums that need additional support.
Gum augmentation procedures can also be used to:
